The real Japanese style is always, in fact, restrained, in its own way laconic and sophisticated look. This effect is achieved by a harmonious combination of regular geometric lines with soft colors and the absence of bulky furniture. So that the space is not overloaded, the interior in a traditional Japanese house almost excludes furniture, and only the most necessary things remain. Low sofas, low benches, tables and other things made of bamboo, in fact, create a Japanese interior.

Everyone is placed on the floor as equals, no one rises above the others, no one shows his superiority. There are no strife, disputes and showdowns in this house, because all this, in fact, is not the main thing in a person’s life and is left somewhere outside, outside the door of the house.

Ethnic accessories that complete the atmosphere

Wardrobes in Japan are usually non-existent. Everything that breaks the idyll, as a rule, is removed from sight, and most often in wardrobes. The interior is filled with niches that house a variety of oriental-style vases and figurines. The niche is the frame of the picture — today you put an elegant vase in it, tomorrow a figurine of the appropriate style, and the day after tomorrow flowers. So you show your state of mind or even, one might say, create a mood. And, of course, we can’t forget about flower arrangements, because Japanese design perfectly accepts various flowers, and it doesn’t even matter whether they are live or dried.

A special role in such an interior is given to lighting and the presence of bamboo items in the design. The light should be dim — according to the principle of not the sun, like the Europeans, but the moon, in the tradition of the Japanese house. It would be very useful to have a screen somewhere in the room that delimits a large room into some separate zones. It will not be superfluous to add all kinds of ethnic accessories to the Japanese interior: these are classic caskets, oriental-style vases, and fans. Of the traditional items in the decor, in addition to those listed, it is worth mentioning the figurines of various deities, scrolls with wise sayings, bonsai and, of course, porcelain.

But be that as it may, Europeans, decorating the interior, often only borrow the fundamentally important features characteristic of the Japanese style, while imposing some of their own impressions and multicultural notes, so options are possible.
